Successful USA reading programme, My Reading Coach, launched in Ireland "No Child left behind-A Teacher for every Child"

MindCorp the independent Ireland based education specialists are pleased to announce the arrival to Ireland of My Reading Coach, a successful US reading programme that provides actual interactive reading instruction.

Judith Bliss CEO MindPlay USA, the company that developed this reading software made a presentation in Dublin today of My Reading Coach which is aimed at providing reading instruction for children at primary level, disadvantaged children, adults and children with literacy difficulties and anyone trying to learn English.

My Reading Coach system incorporates lessons that adapt to each student's individual needs. Lesson mastery takes a student anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour. Activities allow students to immediately apply what is learned. The system helps children to recognize their errors and not repeat them again. The management system tracks student progress and allows teachers to see how students are progressing and report any mistakes they are making. These reports empower the teacher to deliver specific instruction where needed. Student Certificates are offered after each Review. My Reading Coach boosts phonics, fluency, spelling and reading comprehension skills.

MindPlay's founder, Judith Bliss, developed My Reading Coach as a result of searching for a reading solution for her own son's problems. Development of this product started in 1986 and has been successfully used in the US educational system since its launch there. Bliss joined forces with Jim Larrabee who had been teaching speech, phonics and reading in public schools in the States for more than 25 years. The collaboration of Larrabee and Bliss matched sound instructional design with a responsive management system, artificial intelligence and interactive audio / video. "This is the first computer based reading instruction programme that enables every child to learn to read because Jim's instruction is consistent, supportive and individualized, allowing each child to repeat an activity as many times as needed until the lesson is learned." states Bliss.

Primary and Secondary schools, adult education institutions, and parents across the States are using My Reading Coach with great success. There is a proven 95% success rate including at risk students, ESL and ADHD/ADD students. Students, who failed using all other methods, improved reading comprehension significantly. Overall it allows every student to work directly with an expert reading teacher and speech pathologist.

Judith's presentation was made to Irish educational specialists including Primary and Secondary school teachers, speech therapists, speech pathologists and parents of special needs children as well as representatives of organisations for adults with literacy difficulties. Currently My Reading Coach is being piloted in a number of Irish schools and will be available to all schools and other relevant educational organisations shortly.

Robert Mulcahy CEO MindCorp, the company introducing it to the Irish Education system said, "Excellent reading skills are the key to all successful learning and MindCorp is confident that My Reading Coach will be a welcome reading tool for Irish schools and educational organisations in assisting children, their teachers, parents and everyone who wants to learn English, to read it in a more effective, fluent way"
